NAked With Nazarea Andrews

Today we're getting NAked with Nazarea Andrews, author of This Love

Nazarea, who are you and what should we know about you in 50 words or less?
I’m a mom, wife, and book addict. I like reading happily ever afters, am shamelessly addicted to chocolate and think makeout scenes are probably the best thing in the world to write. Also—I live in the South and have a huge dog.

Which one: chocolate or bacon?
Chocolate. No question.

What is the name of your book and what is it about in 50 words or less?
THIS LOVE is about forbidden romance, beaches and second chances.

Tell us your main character's name and 3 adjectives that describe him/her. (If you have multiple main characters, do this for each).
Avery is ambitious, stubborn and down-to-earth. Atticus is sexy, a dreamer, and heartbroken.

Please share with us an excerpt of 150-200 words from your book.
I wave at the TA before I push out the door. My phone is buried in my purse, and I pause in the hallway of the history wing to dig it out. “Shit,” I mutter as two pens clatter to the floor. I seize my phone—I really need to downsize my purse—and crouch to grab my pens.

A pair of scuffed sneakers stop in front of me, stepping on my favorite red pen.

“Excuse me,” I grumble, reaching for it, and a husky laugh jerks my gaze up.

Atticus Grimes is standing in front of me, his eyes amused. He’s wearing faded jeans and a tight fitting concert t-shirt, his hair hanging in his eyes.

He looks like a sexy frat brother instead of a professor. Hell, if Brian looked half this good, I would have slept with him months ago.

“You gonna stay down there forever?” he asks, amusement lacing his rough voice.

The Great Vagina Debacle

So as a New Adult author, I find myself writing some pretty steamy scenes.  Often these moments border on the erotic but I hold myself back, because at the heart of the book, the story is about college kids.  Since I was once a college kid, I thought I was prepared to write the smexy.  After all, I had a wealth of experience to draw from.

God, I hope my mom never reads this blog.

The problem I've encountered is what the hell to call the girl parts and boy parts.  Vagina and penis sounds too clinical.

"She extended her legs into a prone position and offered her vagina to his penis."

No one wants to read that.  Unless there's some type of medical student sex fetish site.  If there is, I don't want to know.  I'm still recovering from my accidental discovery of tentacle porn.

But I digress.

There's also cutesy names like va-jay-jay and bajingo and thingamadoodle.

"He pounded my bajingo with his thingamadoodle until I was whackadoo with pleasure."

And now we  know what Dr. Seuss wrote behind closed doors.

Then there's the vague, noncommittal terminologies like "down there" and "him/he."

"He pressed into me, entering me down there."

I think this is the closest to what I do, except less sucky.  Why?  Because despite my plethora of sexual experience, I can't really remember ever thinking of my vagina as anything specific.  I never called it a pussy or a bajingo or down below.  I do remember thinking (and saying) things like 'get inside me,' so I'm opting for the noncommittal at this stage of the game.  Of course, I'm sure there's a huge market for an adult version of Oh, the Places You'll Go.

(Remember that time I destroyed your childhood?  Yeah.  That just happened.)

I'm delighted to announce the release of our very own Laurelin Paige's SEXY novel, Fixed On You, out TODAY!!!!!!

Now that your greedy little eyes hath seen, take a peak about the blurb on the back of that hot cover! :D

Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out – move up at the nightclub she works at and marry the manager, David. He’s perfect for her because, although he’s attractive, he doesn’t get her all turned inside out and upside down like some other men have. It’s a safe plan, one that assures she’ll remain in control of her obsessive love disorder.

But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous – the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of his plans to seduce her. Avoiding him becomes impossible after he offers a business proposition Alayna can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull.

Soon Alayna’s charmed by Hudson in every way possible and the control over her old behaviors slip. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.

You can get Fixed on You NOW at Amazon and Barnes and Noble

Teaser time? Teaser! Woohoo!

Unable to go another minute with the loneliness that had settled in my chest, honesty won over. “I want you,” I whispered, my face pressed against the glass, too embarrassed to look at him.

“Alayna?” I felt his eyes on me.

“I know what I said.” I wiped my eyes, determined to keep the rest of my tears in my eyes. “But maybe I was wrong. I mean, I don’t know if you’re right—if spending time with you can make me better. But I know that since we’ve been apart, I’ve been worse.” Taking a ragged breath, I braved a look at him. “I miss you.” A nervous giggle escaped from my throat. “Told you I get attached.”

A trace of a smile crossed his lips. “Where do you think I’m taking you?”

I glanced out the window, having not been paying attention to our destination. Lincoln. Headed East. We were blocks away from Pierce Industries. The loft.

I straightened, a blush crawling on my cheeks. “Oh,” I said, the lonely ache inside burning away with the spark of desire. Then irritation took over. “I told you no more sex, and you were taking me to the loft without asking?”

“Alayna,” he sighed with frustration. “You are a bundle of mixed signals. At the symphony you seemed to indicate—“

“And you totally blew me off,” I interrupted. “Don’t talk to me about mixed signals!”

He put his hand on my knee. “I was trying to avoid mixing business with pleasure. A difficult task with you, precious.” His voice grew low. “Especially with your wandering hands and how hot you look in that dress.”

I blinked. “Oh,” I said again. How did he do that? How did he compartmentalize, dividing the pretend from the real, never the two to cross while I tied myself up in knots?

“If you want me to ask, I will, though you know it’s not my style.” He took my silent stare as a “yes” even though it was simply me processing. “May I take you to my bed, Alayna?”

His request came out in a rumble that had my passion buttons going off like fireworks. “Yes,” I half moaned as he pulled up to a red light.

About the Author

Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.

Sugar Sunday, The Inaugural Post

Hi guys! I'm working on a new feature for the NAturals- our first serial. Every Sunday, I'll post a few new pages. Enjoy!

xoxo
Lucy

Theresa, as a rule, never spoke to her neighbors. These people saw her in curlers watering the flowers, in heels going out, and in bare feet staggering back in. Occasionally, a full day would pass in between the latter two events. They knew too much already, and therefore didn’t need to know any more.

Her townhouse was an end unit, luckily. This did much to encourage her seclusion. From her vantage point of the front office, Theresa could see most of the complex. If a Girl Scout or Jehovah’s Witness was approaching, there was ample time to turn off the lights and remove herself from the vicinity of the window. A lifelong snoop, she assumed her neighbors spent as much time observing her as she did them.

Theresa loved her job as a virtual assistant. She worked from home and set her own hours. She spent as much of the day as she wanted without pants. Best of all, the work was varied. Occasionally, it was fascinating. Which was why, on a particular Tuesday in spring, she was too absorbed to notice her neighbor two doors down approaching her doorstep.

By the time the doorbell chimed, it was too late to pretend she wasn’t home. The neighbor was waving enthusiastically through the sheers at Theresa. Wonderful, she thought. Just wonderful. An invitation to a Tupperware party? Bible study group? Participate in the neighborhood rummage sale?

Whatever the question, Theresa had a flat “no” prepared.

Which was why, on this particular Tuesday, she was entirely taken aback when the neighbor was not what she expected.

For one thing, the young woman standing on her step had purple hair. She had a copious amount of tattoos. Also, she was the singer in a band Theresa rather enjoyed.

“Hi! I know this is a ridiculous question to be asking someone in real life, but I’m in the middle of baking a welcome cake for my brother, and well… Can I borrow a cup of sugar?”

Theresa blinked twice.

“Come in.”

She surprised herself by being entirely polite, if stilted.

“I’ve seen you play before. You’re a good singer.”

“Oh, really? Thanks so much! I swear every time I’m on stage I’m as nervous as the first time. We’re playing the Blue Room in two weeks and I am losing my shit just thinking about it. You should totally come out! I’ll buy you a drink. You are such a lifesaver today.” The singer was a rambler, Theresa thought, but not in an unpleasant way.

They chatted for a few moments as she carefully decanted exactly one cup of sugar into a glass measuring cup.

It was exactly one week to the day later when it occurred to Theresa that her cake-baking neighbor had failed to return the borrowed measuring cup. As she reluctantly found a pair of pants to wear, she considered how correct she had been in her initial assessment of the people she lived near. When her business really took off, she reflected, she would move to the country and only receive visitors that had been invited well in advance.

Satisfied that her choice of black pants and grey button-down reflected a severe attitude towards thievery, Theresa tucked her auburn hair into a bun and headed for the door. She stepped out into the sun and squinted. Theresa was not overly fond of the sun. Or the outdoors. She removed the dog-walking, lawn-mowing, and baby-sitting fliers from her door and dropped them into a flower pot. Her assumption was that one day the moldering pile of papers may deter the neighbors from piling more on. That day was not today.

Two doors down, she rapped three staccato knocks. She squared her shoulders. She was prepared to deliver a brief lecture, kind yet firm, about neighborliness. No one answered. She knocked again. There was still no answer. Perhaps a note, then. She turned to go just as the locks noisily disengaged.

“Yeah?” came a voice, much deeper than the purple-haired girl’s should have been. Theresa steeled herself to deal with some miscreant boyfriend. She spun smartly on her heel and came face to face with six feet of biceps and dimples, capped off with pale green eyes.

“Um,” she replied like the professional she considered herself.

“Can I help you?” the tall chiseled man asked. He raised an eyebrow at her as his grin deepened. Oh, the dimples were on both cheeks and his chin. Oh, there was hair. Artfully tousled light brown hair. Why was she noticing all of this? Not the reason for her visit.

“I came for. Um. I gave. I needed… a cup of sugar.”

That did not come out as planned. What kind of simpering undergrad must she sound like? Theresa Marie O’Donnelly was a grown woman. She was a small business owner, a supporter of fair-trade products, and an accomplished home cook. She did not simper.

“Come in.” The man’s muscular back rippled through his t-shirt as he turned, clearly expecting her to follow.

Theresa took a deep breath, prepared her speech, stepped inside, and simpered.

Under the Cover: Fixed on You by Laurelin Paige

Since Fixed on You releases in just two days, I'm giving you a sneak peek Under the Cover.

First, here's the cover.

And now an excerpt. I'm warning you upfront--it's pretty steamy. :)

I huffed at a strand of hair that had fallen over my face and entered the dressing room, not at all eager to encounter Stacy and her dagger eyes alone. While I waited for her, I reached behind my back to see if I could unlace the corset myself, snagging my fingernail on one of the threads. I was examining the nail, trying to smooth out the rough edge when I felt Stacy’s hands undoing the laces. She had so much hatred for me she hadn’t even offered a greeting.

I glanced up from my nail at her in the mirror. But it wasn’t Stacy undoing my corset—it was Hudson.

He met my eyes, pinning my reflection with a greedy stare. Slowly, without breaking his gaze, he continued loosening the laces of my bodice.

I didn’t stop him. He didn’t ask, and I didn’t stop him.

When he’d finished loosening my gown, his hands traveled to the spaghetti straps at my shoulders. I watched as he moved the straps over the curve of my bones and down my arms. The dress fell to the floor, leaving me in nothing but black strappy heels and my red thong.

Hudson’s eyes widened and my sex clenched.

I wanted him. Whatever I told myself about healthy and unhealthy relationships, it didn’t matter. I was already in this with him. If there was a point of attachment that would lead me to obsession, I’d already passed it. And admitting that made me sorry I’d ever tried to be anything different with him.

Hudson’s hands ran around my waist, meeting above my navel. Then while one hand traveled up to fondle my breast, the other moved under the band of my thong. I stepped my legs apart, an invitation for him to find my swollen bud. His lip twitched the slightest bit as he slid his fingers through my slick desire, parting the folds of my sex, and releasing the musky aroma of my lust. In that moment he knew how much I longed for him, embarrassingly wet as I was.

He continued to plump my breast that was suddenly heavy and tender as he flicked his thumb across my raised nipple. The attention he gave to my bosom magnified the action below, his pad returning to tease my clit, and I let out a breathy moan. He stretched his arm over my torso, supporting me as I weakened from pleasure and I closed my eyes to relish in the nearness of climax.

Descriptions are HARD

Or, why does everyone smell like vanilla?

In which I fangirl all over Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.

Not that vanilla isn't nice, but it's a vastly overused fragrance to waft around your heroine and entice her Love Interest. Characters should have signature scents, but let's break out of the vanilla box, shall we? I have a friend whose smell is so unique, I notice it before her and think, "Sheena's here!" It's a blend of Paul Mitchell mousse, and some other things that I forgot after she explained them to me because I just like the Sheena-smell, and don't plan to recreate it.

Describing your characters' scents can be daunting, though. Also, not everyone geeks out on perfume the way I do. But did you guys know that Juicy Couture's signature fragrance was inspired by the idea of how our bodies would smell in heaven? What would your dream angel smell like? Tarragon? Sawdust? Coconuts?

Here's where you should open another window and go to www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com.

The smell of the oil Desire is, "The overwhelming agony of passion crystallized into a singularly dark and magnetic blend: bittersweet neroli, black patchouli and black musk, gilded by apple, bergamot, blood red rose, teak, and vanilla."

Hey look! Vanilla! But it's gilded by apple. And teak! And they said "overwhelming agony of passion" and oh my God why didn't I come up with that line first.

Bengal (from the Wanderlust collection) is "skin musk with honey, peppers, clove, cinnamon bark and ginger." And if you read about a character who smelled of honey, cinnamon, and ginger, what would you think about their personality? Me, I'm thinking warm and sensual. And also that I'm a little hungry.

My MC in Southern Rock, Carolina, smells of orange blossoms, roses, and rosemary. I straight lifted that description from BPAL's Catherine. Catherine De Medici was a noted poisoner, and that was reportedly the blend she disguised her fatal doses in. Carolina has a tendency to poison any relationship she finds herself in.

Fun With Smells, guys. Let's do it.

xoxo
